She's been writing since 4th grade.
It started with short stories — the kind you write in a spiral notebook because something inside you has to get out. By middle school it was poetry, and that stayed with her through adulthood. The urge to put things into language never went away. It just kept evolving.
But the dream was always books. Real, long, world-eating books with characters you mourn when the series ends. She knew what she was chasing. She just needed time to get there.
Robert Jordan left a hole. She wanted her voice in that space.
"When Robert Jordan passed, there was this grief in the fantasy community that I felt too — not just for him, but for the stories that wouldn't exist. Brandon Sanderson has done something incredible stepping in. But I kept thinking: there's room. There's still a hole. And I have something to say."
Reading the Wheel of Time changed what she thought was possible in fiction. The scope, the depth, the sheer commitment to a world and its people. It made her want to build something that ambitious — not to imitate it, but to stand beside it. Her own mythology. Her own characters. Her own voice in an epic fantasy tradition she loves deeply.
That's where The Fading Light Saga came from. And alongside it, a psychological thriller series — Lucid — that pulls from everything her academic background taught her about how the mind works under pressure.
Psychology, criminal justice, business — it all connects.
K.P. holds a B.S. in Psychology with a Criminal Justice minor from the University of Indianapolis, and an MBA with an HR focus from Purdue University. She's currently working toward a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Walden University.
The psychology degree shows up everywhere — in how she builds characters, in what makes her thriller plots move the way they do, in her understanding of what readers are actually feeling when they're inside a story. The criminal justice minor gave her a framework for conflict and consequence. The MBA is why she could build a software platform instead of just dreaming about one.
She needed the tools. So she built them.
When it came time to start querying and promoting her work, K.P. looked around at what was available and found a patchwork of outdated trackers, disconnected spreadsheets, and subscription services that each did one small piece of the job. She wanted one place. So she built it.

K.P. lives in Chicago with her husband and her three teenage kids. The full household roster, in order of chaos generated:

🐰 The Rabbits — Shadow & Princess
Shadow is the gray one — steady, watchful, exactly what the name suggests.
Princess is the fluffy lion head beside her. She passed about a year ago, and she is still very much missed. She earned her spot on this page.
🐉 Fat Dragon — Emotional Support Stuffy
Fat Dragon is not technically a pet. He is, however, a member of the household in every way that counts.
He has his own theme song, courtesy of K.P.'s husband, sung to the exact cadence of the Transformers theme:
"Fat Dragon — too damn fat to fly."
This is the whole song. It is enough.
